Ascending to Heaven

Inspiration
As one of Qu Guangci’s most iconic works, Ascending to Heaven was inspired by an unforgettable moment from Harry Potter—when the overweight uncle is magically lifted into the air, and the panicked aunt, trying to pull him back down, ends up floating alongside him.
Building on this scene, XIQI ART created a whimsical duo of “one rising, one resisting” Little Chubbies—locked in a moment of both tension and levity, dramatically capturing the essence of “soaring to heaven.” Here, their chubbiness is no longer a symbol of heaviness, but transformed into an unexpected buoyancy—infused with the mischievous spirit of childhood pranks and XIQI’s signature touch of dark yet healing humor.
This is not a joke gone wrong, but a release of emotion—an imaginative escape that lets us temporarily defy gravity and rediscover a fleeting sense of freedom.
It’s absurd, yet delightful; exaggerated, yet grounded.
Ascending to Heaven is a fantasy comedy for grown-ups—and an artistic question: how can we face reality with lightness in our hearts?
